39 of the 50 states and Washington, DC currently hold 227 verified counseling programs. Programs are grouped by where the university (or its administering campus) is based. Research is ongoing and coverage is not complete; a state without listings has not been researched yet or has no program that met our requirements.

Online programs appear under the state where the university is based. An online degree from another state can still be open to you — and a university in your own state may not be authorized to enroll you online. Check each program's published enrollment restrictions and its licensure disclosure for the state where you plan to practice.
